Raichur Mayor Narasamma Narasimhalu has directed officials of the City Municipal Corporation (CMC) to ensure the proper maintenance of the municipal shopping complex and to fix shop rents transparently, without leaving any scope for complaints or discrepancies.
She issued these instructions while chairing the general body meeting of the City Municipal Corporation held at the Zilla Panchayat Auditorium in Raichur on Tuesday. Emphasizing accountability, the Mayor said that all decisions related to rent fixation must strictly follow existing rules and government guidelines, and should be clearly communicated to shop owners.
The Mayor stressed that the municipal shopping complexes are an important source of revenue for the CMC and, at the same time, provide livelihood opportunities for small traders. Any negligence in maintenance or lack of clarity in rent collection, she said, could lead to public dissatisfaction and allegations of favoritism. Officials were therefore instructed to conduct regular inspections, ensure cleanliness and structural safety, and take up immediate repairs wherever required.
She also asked officials to maintain proper records of shop allotments and rent details, and to display the approved rent structure publicly to ensure transparency. Grievance redressal mechanisms should be strengthened so that traders can raise issues without delay, she added.
Several corporators participated in the meeting and raised issues related to civic amenities, infrastructure development, sanitation, and revenue generation. Officials assured the Mayor that necessary steps would be taken to implement the directions and improve the overall management of the CMC shopping complexes.
The meeting concluded with a call for efficient administration, transparency, and better civic services for the residents of Raichur city.
